The Ponoig via ferrata is located in the town of Polop, 20 minutes from Benidorm. It is one of the most interesting ferrata routes in Alicante as most of its route is vertical, with athletic and aerial steps. The material installed is mainly staples.

Although the ascent of the Ponoig via ferrata is quite an experience, its descent is not short. Unlike other via ferrata, which have a path or path to go down, on the Ponoig via ferrata you have to rappel down.

The route of the Ponoig via ferrata is divided into two well-differentiated sections, although both are vertical. As soon as you start climbing you will realize how many staples you need to grab to get to the top. They are quite close together, so the verticality is more impressive than difficult.

The climb is quite continuous, as there is hardly any place to rest. It provides a great feeling of height, despite not having too many dynamic elements, such as suspension bridges, handrails or hinges.

Once you reach the top, you will find yourself in the Sleeping Lion. From the viewpoint you can enjoy magnificent views of all that is Costa Blanca: with Altea, La Nucía, Callosa de Segura and Benidorm in the background. Take the opportunity to get some air and take the best photos possible for a fantastic memory.

But it doesn’t end here, as the descent is also quite fun: you’ll follow a trail up the mountain until you reach a rappel rope area. And the only way to get off the Ponoig is through them. The rappel descents are of 25 and 35 meters.
