With a vertical route and several rappels, from Alicante Aventura we provide you with the safety equipment and the guide, you only have to bring the desire to enjoy the Soler canyon.
Located very close to the city of Alcoy, the easiest way to get there is to take the A-7 motorway to the town itself and then take the CV-796 road to the start of the ravine itself.
The Sierra de Mariola Natural Park is very close by, so you can take advantage of the day to go down the ravine and spend a day surrounded by nature, taking a hiking route through the park itself and its different viewpoints.
What is the Soler canyon like?
It is a dry canyon of limestone rock that is not too difficult, so both young and old will be able to do it without any inconvenience. It is perfect for those who like abseiling, as there are several short ones and some very interesting ones.
To begin with, the canyon is quite open and offers very good views of Alcoy, but from the third abseil onwards it gets steeper. It is about 290 metres long and you will end up descending 170 metres. The abseils you will find are between 6 and 27 metres long.
The last abseil is the longest but at the same time offers magnificent views of the Uxola bridge. It has several cliffs, trap cliffs and a narrow route, which make for a dynamic and very entertaining route.
In the rainy season several pools can fill with water, so be careful with them when walking along the Barranco del Soler. In short, this is a perfect route for those who enjoy abseiling and do not want to complicate the approach to the ravine itself too much.
