HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ROUTE👇
Bèrnia’s hole
Narrow tunnel excavated in the limestone rock of about 20 m, and less than a metre high, which you will have to crawl through.
Natural balcony with breathtaking views of the Marina Baja
From this spectacular horizon open to the sea you can admire a vast expanse of the Marina Baja that offers you a privileged panoramic view: to the left, Altea, Sierra Gelada, and Benidorm; to the right, the imposing peaks of Puig Campana, Ponoig (The Sleeping Lion) and the Sierra de Aitana.
The ruins of Bèrnia’s fortress
Another of the jewels of the route: The Fort of Bernia, built on the southern slope of the sierra in 1562 by order of Felipe II with the aim of preventing new revolts by the Moors, such as the one that occurred in 1526, and to defend the coast from attacks by Barbary pirates.
